#RomComPicks - When Harry Met Sally

- Spoiler-free review starts here -
Most of my friends had recommended me to watch this classic beauty, and now I know why. It's a beautiful classic rom-com that's really lighthearted and easy to watch. Well, the quality of an old film wasn't easy on the eyes but the casts are!

Meg Ryan as Sally was glowing and utterly mesmerising. Seriously though, why did people back then so gorgeous and good-looking?! And Billy Crystal as Harry stole the screen. His dialogues and quirks were so enjoyable to watch and I found myself laughing from time to time 'cause the jokes aren't getting old.

What I especially love in this movie is the genuine portrayal of a men and woman relationship - can a woman and a man be only just friends? Well, this movie sure has a lot to say to that question and I can guarantee that if you love rom-coms, you'll love this classic beauty. The only downside I can say is that it's a bit slow on pace and sometimes you might doze off at some particularly flat out scenes.

RomCom Meter: 8.5/10
Cast Quality: 8.8/10
Cheesy/Bimbo Meter: 7/10
Memorable Meter: Yes. 9.0/10
Close-to-Heart Meter: 9.0/10

Some dictionary in case you're wondering:
  • RomCom Meter - How great the movie is as a romantic-comedy. Was the film fun? Did it serve its purpose as a romantic (drama of love) and comedy (fun and made you laugh and forget about life)?
  • Cast Quality - Of course, how good looking the casts are, duh.
  • Cheesy Meter - How bimbo the movie is? How predictable and cheesy the romance are? The closer it gets to 10, then its more pretentious and over the top (which is probably good for some people, but not me)
  • Memorable Meter - How memorable is this film in the long run? Do I want to watch it again?
  • Close-to-Heart Meter - Am I learning love stuff in this film? Does this film have deep meaning and roots in the plot? Or is it just under the surface like most high school romcoms?

Now the fun part! I realised there were already lots of When Harry Met Sally quotes out there, but I didn't think it was that famous! Harry gave out lots of 'insightful' advice about men and oh my God we just have to talk about Meg Ryan's fake orgasm in the movie. That was hilarious and so believable as well! One of the most memorable scene right there, lol.

Another one that I particularly like is the scene where Sally was really upset about Joe marrying other girl. She brought up grown up issues that I'm now currently partaking: lack of commitments and excuses that deprive self-confidence. I hate how my last relationship also ended with so many excuses from the counterpart - "I don't want any commitments yet, I'm not ready for one" or "I want to focus on my career first, then I can commit". Bullshit. It's what Sally said, "I don't want any commitments yet with you". Trust when I say, people will do shit if they're willing to do it. I was willing to look past his antiques and my own principles to make things work. But he wasn't, and that hurt me. When I was watching that scene, it stroke as my own and I could really emphatize with that. Great job for this movie for raising so many relationship issues!

Pixel Love

Hi there!

I was originally planning on posting this on Valentine's day, but as it turned out, I forgot D: So...despite my hectic time of working through my uni assignments, I managed to try editing these photos in vscocam's fade style (yay!).

Actually, this is just an excuse to get away from doing my essay ><

This is a handmade pixel heart shape which I sew from paper. I know my language can be very confusing... Let's just pretend you know what I mean.

Pixel Love

Yeap, my first handcrafted stuff posted on this blog.
Despite it being so simple-looking, believe it or not, I spent about an hour just to plan the drawing and getting used around the pattern. The shading of the heart proofed to be a challenge, because I have to cut and paste each block of pixel individually in order to make all of the pieces stick.

And just for your information, I did this on my holiday.
Soo...it was understandable if I did this out of boredom, right? X)

Happy belated Valentine's day, to single people out there <3
To couples, well, you already got your Valentine :P

Love,

Mind an Intro

Hi,

if you stumble upon this blog because of a given link, then I am 98% sure that you know me in real life. But if you're here because of...other circumstances, then you probably don't know (and possibly don't care) who I am.
(BIG hint for nosy [read:kepo] people: read about me section!).

This blog is most probably going to be a place where I can try out new ideas for layout designs and also to practice my lame code skills. Well...maybe not so much for the latter. Anyways, I also plan to write some reviews of whatever I want in here too, like movies or music or life or anything else. Aaand of course, expect some weird diy-s, crafts, artworks, and my art-procrastination-block-rambling.

Hokeyy then, hope to see you in the next post! ;)

V.U.F (very unimportant fact) #1
I spent almost 4 HOURS just to decide the name of this blog (which is still...quite lame),
edit the html thingies for the left column, and adjusting the header.. I'm not sure anymore whether I'm a super-slow-decision-maker or a super-perfectionist -.-
